In a quiet studio in Nairobi, Kenya, something extraordinary happened in June 2025. After weeks of intense preparation, Theovision International Kenya successfully completed the recording of the New Testament in the Fur language a momentous milestone in bringing God’s Word closer to an often-overlooked community.

Fur is the native tongue of the Fur people, primarily found in Sudan and eastern Chad. Over the years, many Fur-speaking Christians were forced to flee Sudan due to the growing hostility under Islamic rule, where freedom to express and live out Christian faith remains heavily restricted. For many, South Sudan became a place of refuge but not without its own challenges. Security tensions and conflict in Juba made it unsafe for Theovision technical team to conduct field recordings.

Yet, God made a way.

In May, the Fur readers – Christian men deeply rooted in Scripture and the heart of their people traveled from South Sudan to Theovision’s studio in Nairobi, where they spent weeks recording all 27 books of the New Testament in their native language. By the final week of June, the project was complete capturing not just words, but hope, dignity, and identity for the Fur community.

Listening to the testimonies and seeing the work being done in the Fur language reminded me that this is one of those divine assignments. I was deeply touched to hear how, for many years, people from this language group were overlooked — yet God was still seeing them. – Cyrus Murage, Bible Translation and Literacy

One of the Fur readers shared: “Our people were once told they do not belong in God’s kingdom but now they can hear Him speak directly to them in Fur.”
