"I was always in the fields herding cows across the dry terrain of Oletepesi, this was my daily life—until the day I heard the Word of God from bystanders by the road. I was moved and decided to seek Christ for myself.

With no formal education to help me read traditional printed Bibles, I relied on what I heard, listening to sermons from other believers and bringing those messages back to a small, growing group of congregants that I managed to assemble. I knew I had a calling and a passion, but I felt I needed a more to match my reality. During a Bible Listening Group session in Oletepesi, I was handed an audio Bible in my own language and I couldn’t hide the joy in my face. Without the hurdle of formal education, the audio Bible opened up a whole new world of scripture for me. Instantly I knew that my discipleship to my congregation would grow the church. I began learning scripture and sharing it effortlessly with my community.

A few months later, the transformation in my village, Oletepesi, is nothing short of remarkable: A lot of good things have happened. The most exciting is that 15 people have given their lives to Christ, and the church has experienced greater attendance. Some families have experienced renewal as they listen to Scripture together..
I was once a lone shepherd listening to the wind, but today the audio Bible, rich with the Word has now renewed the faith in my community. We welcome more audio Bibles so that other communities can experience the word of God."
Stories like Pastor Ngopiyo’s remind us of the incredible power of meeting people right where they are.
