Imagine wanting to read something so badly, but not being able to. A visually impaired student at Aquinas High shares a heartfelt uphill battle with accessing text and how the audio Bible changed that for him and his peers. A Grade 10 student, Higgins Manyasi, wanted to study the Word of God independently, but as a visually impaired student, standard books and regular Bibles left him and his classmates cut off.

Instead of giving up, Higgins decided to write an email to us. In his email narration, he humbly asked for audio Bibles—specifically in English and Kiswahili—so that he and eight of his other schoolmates could listen, study, and grow in their faith together.

Moved by Higgins’s deep passion, we coordinated with the school leadership and traveled to Aquinas High School for a special visit. We found a welcoming school community eager to embrace the word of God.

We spent over two and a half interactive hours training 16 visually impaired students on how to form Bible-listening groups and navigate the audio Bibles.

The room filled with bright energy and brilliant focus as the students quickly caught on. At the end of the session, every student received their very own audio Bible and a certificate of completion.

When the students held their new devices and smiled, it was a clear answer to prayer. As teacher Peter Nguijiri shared, even though these students may not read with their eyes, they can hear God’s word loud and clear—and they are ready to share it with others.

Be Part of the Journey

This inspiring event at Aquinas High School is only the beginning. There are many more visually impaired students across other schools who are waiting to hear God’s Word in a way they can understand.

You can help change a life today. Whether through prayer, sharing resources, or supporting missions like ours, you can help ensure that no student is left behind.
