Our follow-up visits to Sirata, a small village in the heart of Samburu land, was eye-opening as we encountered exciting stories of true a transformation among these people. It was during this journey that we met a few women who indicated that they held Audio bible listening sessions every evening.
An elderly woman, Ms. Lesadala shared not only her personal testimony but also narrated the story of the entire Revelation Chapter 12 from memory! This chapter tells the story of a battle between an expectant woman and a dragon. Ms. Lesadala did not only narrate the story but also drew a lesson from it, stating that ‘God will always protect His own people’. It was breathtaking to realize that despite the difficulties and challenges of life faced by these women in their day to day living, they could still keenly listen to the audio Bible and re-tell the stories!
Other women too shared the lessons they had learnt from the scripture. One other woman expressed how the Bible had helped her discern good and evil, guiding her in raising her children according to Christian principles, and in fostering great relationships with her husband. Another woman reflected on how the Bible had taught her the importance of humility in her relationship with her husband.
