In Ngurunit, within Sangal village, we encountered a remarkable group of women who, despite having only one Audio Bible among them, utilized it across three Manyattas. Teresiah, a young woman, takes responsibility for the audio Bible, ensuring its presence in different Manyatta villages every evening for group listening sessions. She highlights the significance of this practice, noting that while church attendance may be limited to once a week, having the audio Bible is like having the church with them constantly, promoting spiritual growth. This showed the passion they had to listening to Audio Bibles and transforming their lives.
The women shared powerful stories such as the resurrection of Jairus’ daughter, the healing of Bartimaeus the blind man, and the woman who suffered from bleeding for 12 years. Through these stories, they affirmed their belief in God’s power over life, and ability to bring healing. One woman who had endured violence from her husband, shared that the Bible has been a source of guidance for her, particularly in developing patience. She referenced Luke 6:9, which advises, “If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also.” This verse has encouraged her to approach challenging situations with patience and resilience, even in the face of hardships.
These women’s collective experiences emphasized the transformative impact of listening to the Word, instilling faith, patience, and a deep understanding of God’s power and grace.
It is evident that with the Audio Bibles, the Word is always accessible, allowing the people to listen while attending to their daily tasks. The stories shared and lessons learnt are truly uplifting and life transforming.
