In Sirata village in Samburu resides a man named Dureisa Lemago. Before he met God, Dureisa used to worship mountains, rivers and rainbow. He used to lead a group
of women into the practice.
“‘I used to see things in the rainbow and see visions at night that I told the women to follow and practice. I would lead them to give sacrifice to the river by slaughtering a goat and even pouring milk into the river”. Said Duresia. He had no peace and got into depression, started using drugs and eventually thought of ending his own life. He left his family which fell apart.
One night he saw a vision of a man wearing white speaking to him. Feeling lost, he turned to Pastor Lepatoye of Ngurunit AIC and shared his troubles. The Pastor prayed with him and gave him a Samburu Audio Bible which he began to listen. He encouraged him to pray whenever he felt overwhelmed by his hallucinations and stood by him in his journey towards faith.
Mr. Duresia gave his life to Christ as he realized the God, he is listening to in scriptures is different from the rivers and rainbow. Now, Dureisa never misses church. “I’ve stopped seeing visions, quit using drugs, and my family has welcomed me back,” he said with great relief.
Pastor Lepatoye expressed his joy at Dureisa’s pursuit of true God and knowing the challenges he faced, Pastor Lepatoye dedicated his time to listening to Samburu Audio Bible with him. He is glad to witness Dureisa’s transformation in faith.
