In Tanzania, a young man’s life took an unexpected turn through the simple act of listening to the Audio Bible.

Babu and Rahisi were long term friends caught up in a life of crime, breaking into shops, stealing goods, and sharing the proceeds. In their neighborhood, people gathered twice a week to listen to the Audio Bible. Curious about what drew the crowds, Rahisi decided to attend the Bible listening session one day. What he heard stirred something deep inside him, and soon he began attending regularly.

One evening, Babu and a group of young men planned a robbery, which happened to fall on the same night as the Bible listening session. Babu invited Rahisi to join the planning, but Rahisi declined, choosing instead to attend the Bible listening session. Rahisi tried to persuade Babu to abandon the robbery plan so they could both go to the listening session, but Babu refused.

That night, tragedy struck. Security personnel opened fire on the gang, and Babu and his friends were killed. Rahisi was not with them; his choice to attend the Bible listening session spared his life.

Shaken by the loss of his friends, Rahisi gave up crime entirely. The Word he had been hearing began to transform him. He chose to be a devoted listener of the Audio Bible. As Scripture says, “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” Rahisi not only found salvation but also became passionate about sharing the gospel with his peers, urging them to turn away from crime and find life in Christ.
